土壌は、過去に生きた者たちの営みとその存在の集積によって形成される。
生まれ、育ち、還っていく生命の循環を内包する土にはそこに眠る者たちの様々な記憶が宿っている。
例えば、降り注ぐ太陽の光と大地の色、繁茂する緑のざわめき、そして他者に触れた温かな感触。これらは私の目の前で起こっている出来事であると同時に、過去の者たちが見ていた風景や感覚とも繋がっている。
私は土に触れる行為を、過去との対話として捉えている。そこから生まれる創作は、私自身の想像や経験を通して、不在の者たちの記憶を形にする。
立ち現れる風景の断片は、今この瞬間と混ざり合い、私の記憶の一部となっていつの日か再び土へ還っていく。それは特別な事象ではなく、普遍的で小さな循環の物語である。
Soil is formed through the accumulation of the lives, activities, and presence of those who lived before us.
Holding within it the cycle of life—of being born, growing, and eventually returning to the earth—soil carries the many memories of those who rest within it.
For example, the sunlight pouring down upon us, the color of the earth, the rustling of flourishing greenery, and the warmth of having touched another person. These are events taking place before my eyes in the present, yet at the same time, they are connected to the landscapes and sensations once experienced by those who came before us.
I regard the act of touching soil as a dialogue with the past. The works that emerge from this encounter give form to the memories of those who are no longer here, filtered through my own imagination and experiences.
The fragments of landscapes that emerge become interwoven with the present moment, becoming part of my own memory, and one day returning once again to the soil. It is not an extraordinary phenomenon, but rather a quiet, universal story of a small cycle.

鈴木恵美
1984年静岡県生まれ。神奈川県、静岡県を拠点に活動。名古屋造形芸術短期大学卒業。独学で絵を描き始めアクリル画作家として活動後、生活環境の変化をきっかけに土を使った作品の制作を始める。日本の伝統的な佐官技術やフレスコの技法に影響を受けた独自の画法により、画材となる土は焼成せず、原土の持つ色や特性はそのまま作品へ生かされている。土は過去を生きた者たちの営みと彼らそのものからできた物質である。その土と接することは不在の者たちとの対話であると捉え、土に宿る記憶をテーマに主に平面作品を制作している。
Emi Suzuki
Born in Shizuoka Prefecture in 1984, Emi Suzuki is based in Kanagawa and Shizuoka, Japan. She graduated from Nagoya College of the Arts and began painting independently. After working as an acrylic painter, she began creating works using soil following a change in her living environment.
Influenced by traditional Japanese plastering techniques and the fresco method, Suzuki has developed her own distinctive approach to painting. The soil she uses as a medium is not fired; instead, its natural colors and inherent qualities are preserved and incorporated directly into her works.
Soil is a material formed through the lives and activities of those who lived before us, and, in a sense, through their very existence. Suzuki regards coming into contact with soil as a dialogue with those who are no longer present. With the memories held within the soil as her central theme, she primarily creates two-dimensional works.
